From the first blog post that I published ten years ago, my work has been all about helping other teachers find and use technology in their classrooms. That mission hasn’t changed in ten years. I’m still passionate about helping teachers find and use technology to create better learning experiences for their students. I’m here to help you!
- Inspirational and practical keynotes for your conference or school event.
- Practical, hands-on workshops for your staff or conference attendees. These can be as short as an hour or as long as a week. I can come to you or you can come to me.
- Online professional development through live, interactive webinars or in on-demand format.
- Free email newsletter loaded with practical ed tech tips.
- A list of my popular keynote and workshop topics is available here.
- Contact me and we’ll chat about other ways that I can help you.
The bits that people usually put on their “about me” pages.
I’ve intentionally buried this stuff at the bottom of the page because reading the bits about how I can help you are more important than spending time reading my bio.
I’m best known for my award winning blog, FreeTech4Teachers.com which I started while teaching high school social studies in Maine. Today, my writing reaches more than 500,000 educators every month. My favorite thing to do is help teachers develop creative and practical classroom uses of technology. I’m an energetic speaker, who has been invited to keynote events on six continents and I would gladly go to Antarctica too.
My focus is on finding the best tools that teachers and administrators can use to improve the learning experiences of their students. My framework for using technology in education can be summed-up in three words; Discovery, Discussion, and Demonstration. That framework is used for explaining the purposes of the tools that I introduce in my presentations and workshops.
I am a five time winner of the Edublogs Award for Best Resource Sharing Blog. I became a Google Certified Teacher in 2009. In 2012 I received a Merlot Classics award from chancellor’s office of California State University. I was a finalist for ACTEM’s (Association of Computer Teachers and Educators in Maine) educator of the year award. Tech & Learning Magazine named me one of their “people to watch” in their 30th Anniversary celebration (http://techlearning.com/article/26660).
